IndiGo, the largest airline in India, has announced a major leadership change by appointing William Walsh as its new Chief Executive Officer. This decision comes after the unexpected resignation of Pieter Elbers. The company confirmed that Walsh will officially take charge on August 3.
Currently serving as the Director General of International Air Transport Association, Walsh’s term there will end on July 31. He brings vast experience from leading several major airline companies in the past. IndiGo stated that his leadership will help the company grow further during its expansion phase.
Earlier, the airline faced challenges when a large number of flights were cancelled in December, causing inconvenience to passengers. Following these developments, Pieter Elbers stepped down before completing his full term. With Walsh’s strong background, the company is hopeful of improving operations and strengthening its position in the aviation sector.
