The 'SAR' initiative—undertaken as part of nationwide election management efforts—is gearing up for its third phase. The Election Commission has formulated a plan to launch this process in the remaining states following the conclusion of Assembly elections in four states at the end of this month. Following the announcement of results on May 4, the program is set to be implemented on a massive scale across states such as Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Maharashtra, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, and Assam, as well as in five Union Territories.
The 'SAR' initiative has already been successfully completed in 10 states and three Union Territories across the country. The process is slated to be accelerated in the remaining regions immediately after the elections conclude in states like Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam, and Puducherry. The Election Commission is implementing this program with the primary objectives of updating voter lists and enhancing transparency within the electoral system.
