Chennai: Major Setback for TVK

TVK party has suffered a major setback in the run-up to the elections. In the Edappadi constituency, the Election Commission has rejected the nomination of the party’s candidate, resulting in the party effectively losing a seat even before the polls.

As per the rules, a nomination must have signatures from at least 10 proposers. However, candidate Arunkumar’s nomination had only 8 signatures, while another candidate, Nithya, submitted a nomination with just 7 signatures. Due to this shortfall, the Election Commission rejected both nominations.
