The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has ordered action against Chilakaluripet Rural Sub-Inspector Priyanka following an incident involving former minister and YSRCP leader Vidadala Rajini. The incident reportedly occurred on Friday near Rajini’s residence in Chilakaluripet, Palnadu district, when police allegedly prevented her from coming outside. According to media reports, a dispute arose after police stopped Yadlapadu ZPTC candidate Pandula Bullabbayi at the residence gate. During the confrontation, Rajini was allegedly pushed and fell to the ground. The incident drew widespread attention after videos circulated on social media.
Taking the matter seriously, the SEC directed the Palnadu district police authorities to remove SI Priyanka from election duties as well as regular police duties, according to reports published on October 24, 2026. The Commission also ordered a detailed and impartial inquiry into the incident and sought a report from the district police leadership. The episode has sparked political controversy amid the ongoing local body nomination process in Andhra Pradesh. Further details of the inquiry and any subsequent disciplinary action are awaited.
