With Sankranti holidays starting from Saturday for educational institutions , heavy traffic movement began on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway from Friday evening itself. As people began traveling ahead of the three-day festival, which is celebrated with great grandeur in Andhra Pradesh, vehicle congestion increased significantly on the highway.
To ensure smooth traffic flow, police have implemented strict measures along the highway. In Choutuppal, the Narayanapuram Road was closed to avoid disruptions to highway traffic. At the Pantangi Toll Plaza, 10 out of 16 toll booths were opened exclusively towards the Vijayawada route. With FASTag in operation and additional toll staff deployed, traffic is moving smoothly, though authorities expect heavier congestion over the weekend.
