Revanth Reddy will hold an important review meeting today on irrigation projects in Telangana. The meeting will focus on the progress, current status and challenges of major water projects. Senior officials and minister Uttam Kumar Reddy are expected to attend. A key topic of discussion will be the recent High Court verdict on the Kaleshwaram project. The court stated that no action should be taken against former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao and former minister T. Harish Rao based on the report. However, the state government is planning to approach the Supreme Court and today’s meeting will likely decide the next steps.
The meeting will also focus on the Tummidihatti project. Earlier, this project was planned under a different design but was later shifted. Now, the current government aims to revive and complete it. Recent surveys have been conducted and plans are being made to move water through a gravity system. Officials are preparing to begin the project work soon.
Another important topic is the repair of damaged barrages like Medigadda. Structural issues had made the project unusable for a long time. The Chief Minister has directed that repairs should follow central guidelines. Soil testing and other studies are already in progress and officials have been asked to complete them before the monsoon. Discussions will also cover other major projects and water storage issues across the state.
