Tourists were treated to a spectacular sight as nearly 75 dolphins were spotted swimming together off the Konkan coast in Maharashtra’s Sindhudurg district. The rare gathering was witnessed near Devbagh and Tarkarli Beach, leaving tourists and local fishermen astonished. Fishermen said it was the first time such a large number of dolphins had been seen together in one location along this stretch of coastline.
The breathtaking visuals were captured by marine biologist Vishal Bhave using a drone. Marine experts identified the dolphins as belonging to the Indian Ocean humpback species. Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri coastal regions are known habitats for dolphins. Scientists have stressed the need for responsible tourism practices, urging boat operators to maintain a safe distance and avoid creating noise disturbances to protect marine life.
