The Delhi government has taken an important decision to remove more than 1.4 lakh CCTV cameras installed across the city. These cameras were manufactured in China and concerns have been raised about possible risks to national security. Because of this, the authorities have decided to replace them with new and safer systems.
These CCTV cameras were installed between 2020 and 2022 as part of the first phase during the AAP government’s tenure. At present, around 2.7 lakh CCTV cameras are functioning across Delhi. The move to remove Chinese-made cameras is seen as a step towards improving security and ensuring better surveillance.
The government is expected to install new cameras in place of the old ones soon. This decision highlights the growing focus on national security and the need for reliable technology in public safety systems.
