The government of Andhra Pradesh has taken a pivotal decision to provide clean and high-quality mid-day meals to students studying in government schools across the state. In the first phase, it has been decided to establish 155 'Smart Kitchens.' One centralized kitchen will be set up for every 40 schools. The construction of each kitchen is estimated to cost approximately ₹55 lakhs.
These Smart Kitchens will be equipped with facilities such as refrigerators, steam cooking lines, RO water plants, and modern cooking utensils. The scheme is set to be expanded in a phased manner to cover 45,000 schools and junior colleges throughout the state. The government's objective is to provide hygienic and nutritious meals to the students.
