Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp announced several new features on Friday. Going forward, iPhone users will be able to manage two WhatsApp accounts simultaneously on a single device. In addition, the company has introduced new artificial intelligence (AI) tools for photo editing and message drafting. Previously, the “Two Accounts, One Phone” feature was available only to Android users, but it is now being extended to the iOS platform as well. WhatsApp stated in its blog that users will no longer need two separate phones to manage personal and professional communications.
Users can easily identify which account is currently active through the profile picture displayed at the bottom of the app. In line with the generative AI trend, WhatsApp is integrating “Meta AI” directly into chats. With this integration, users can touch up photos, remove unwanted elements, change backgrounds or apply different styles before sending images. Additionally, the “AI Writing Help” feature suggests responses based on the context of conversations. WhatsApp clarified that there are no security concerns with these AI tools and that all user chats remain fully private. However, the company noted that the newly introduced Meta AI features may not be immediately available to all users.
