Bhubaneswar: In a major move aimed at protecting public health, the Odisha government has imposed a statewide ban on tobacco products. The prohibition covers the manufacturing, sale, storage, transportation, and distribution of products such as gutkha, pan masala, tobacco, zarda, and khaini. The Health Department has issued official orders to enforce the ban across the state.
The decision was taken in view of the growing health risks associated with tobacco consumption, including cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The government stated that strict action will be taken against violators, underscoring its commitment to safeguarding public health and reducing tobacco-related illnesses.
