Left-affiliated trade unions and farmers’ organizations have called for a nationwide general strike today in protest against the four Labour Codes proposed by the Central Government. The key demands include the withdrawal of the Electricity Bill–2025, Seeds Bill–2025 and the V.B. GRAAMG Act–2025, restoration of the Old Pension Scheme, and implementation of minimum wages for all workers, including scheme workers.
Thousands of workers are expected to participate in the strike under the leadership of central trade unions and Left parties. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has also urged farmers to join hands with trade union workers in the protest demonstrations. Preparations have been completed to organize rallies, sit-ins and other forms of agitation across various parts of the country.
