Amid the ongoing wave of layoffs across global tech companies such as Amazon, Microsoft, and Google, Apple has now joined the list, causing significant concern among its workforce. Despite posting record revenue, the company has reportedly dismissed dozens of employees, including several senior staff with 20 to 30 years of experience.
According to Bloomberg, the layoffs mainly affected teams within Apple’s global sales operations. Employees who work closely with corporate clients, government departments, and educational institutions were among those impacted. Staff operating briefing centers, which showcase Apple products to potential customers, have also been let go.
However, Apple has not disclosed the exact number of employees affected. Those who received layoff notices must find another role within the company by January 20. If they fail to secure a new position, they will be relieved with severance benefits.
The fact that Apple despite generating over $140 billion in revenue has initiated layoffs is fueling anxiety among tech professionals worldwide.
