Kurnool Bus Tragedy: AP, Telangana Govts Swing Into Action!

The Kurnool bus tragedy, which claimed as many as 20 lives, has left the entire Telugu states in deep shock. In response to the horrifying incident, both the Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana (TG) governments have swiftly swung into action.

According to official sources, the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments have announced financial compensation of ₹5 lakh for the families of each deceased and ₹2 lakh for those injured in the tragic mishap. The disbursement of compensation is expected to begin shortly, considering the gravity of the situation.

Meanwhile, both state administrations have directed transport and traffic departments to take strict action against private travel operators violating safety norms.

In Telangana, the Transport Department conducted late-night surprise checks on private buses across the city. Multiple vehicles were stopped for inspection, and drivers were subjected to breathalyser tests to detect possible alcohol consumption.

Similarly, in Andhra Pradesh, enforcement teams carried out intensive checks at district borders, verifying bus permits, licenses, and fitness certificates. Authorities reportedly booked nearly 10 private buses yesterday for operating without proper documentation.

While these actions mark a strong response from both governments, public voices are growing louder for long-term reforms — including stricter safety checks, better driver training, and improved road surveillance — to ensure that such preventable tragedies never recur.
