BRS Working President KTR has written a letter to Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, urging the immediate establishment of a new railway division centered in Kazipet. A delegation of party MPs personally handed over this letter to the Union Minister, who reportedly responded positively to the request. In his letter, KTR noted that the Secunderabad Division is currently under an excessive burden; with track mileage exceeding administrative limits, its maintenance has become increasingly difficult.
He explained that while the Secunderabad Division currently covers a jurisdiction of 2,755 track kilometers, this figure is projected to rise to 3,150 kilometers in the future. Expressing concern that this mileage is significantly higher compared to other divisions, he pointed out that this imbalance is adversely affecting railway operations. KTR stated that the creation of a Kazipet Division would facilitate the decentralization of operations, thereby improving railway services across North-Eastern Telangana and enabling balanced regional development.
Furthermore, KTR demanded the withdrawal of the proposal to transfer the Peddapalli–Nizamabad section to the Hyderabad Division, insisting that—given its geographical location—it should remain within the Kazipet Division. He emphasized the necessity of a dedicated division in Kazipet, citing its status as a pivotal junction for railway routes and the substantial revenue generated through freight transport involving commodities such as Singareni coal, cement, and fertilizers. He urged the Centre to fulfill the long-standing demand of the people of Telangana, alongside strengthening Indian Railways.
