Ahead of India’s AFC Asia Cup qualifier against Hong Kong, controversy arose as the head coach and three players were denied access to the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kochi for a practice session. As a result, the scheduled pre match media briefing did not take place, drawing criticism from football circles.
Reports indicate that the All India Football Federation had not cleared certain payments, preventing staff from allowing the team inside the stadium. The Kochi Football Association president described it as a minor technical issue and assured that players would practice according to the official schedule. The Asia Cup qualifier match is set to proceed as planned.
