Haryana is all set to make history by launching India’s first hydrogen-powered train, marking a major step towards sustainable and green transportation. Developed under the Northern Railway, the train will operate on the Jind–Sonipat route.
To support the project, a dedicated hydrogen production plant has been established in Jind with a capacity of 3,000 kilograms. The plant will receive an uninterrupted 11 kV power supply, ensuring continuous fuel availability for the train and smooth operations.
Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi recently reviewed the progress of the project in a meeting with officials from Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. With final-stage work currently underway, authorities confirmed that the hydrogen-powered train will be inaugurated soon, ushering in a new era of eco-friendly rail transport in India.
