The Ministry of Home Affairs has notified the Immigration and Foreigners (Amendment) Rules, 2026, introducing key changes to the registration process for foreign nationals staying in India. The revised rules aim to simplify procedures, strengthen record keeping, and improve the monitoring of foreign residents across the country.
The amendments also include new provisions related to children associated with or born to Indian parents. According to the government, the updated regulations are designed to improve administrative efficiency, ensure better compliance with immigration laws, and provide greater clarity in the implementation of registration requirements.
