Incident of a relationship dispute turning into a legal case

A 24-year-old woman, Rakshita from Bannangadi village, married an auto driver named Sagar two years ago. However, her acquaintance with Sagar’s friend Indra, who frequently visited their home, gradually developed into an extramarital relationship. Eventually, Rakshita eloped with Indra and the couple got married at a local temple. After the marriage, she even updated her WhatsApp status with a photo of Indra putting toe rings on her feet, which shocked her husband Sagar.

Following the incident, Sagar filed a complaint at the Mandya Rural Police Station alleging that Rakshita had taken away ₹1 lakh in cash and 22 grams of gold ornaments while leaving the house. He has requested legal action, seeking divorce as well as the return of the money and jewellery allegedly taken by his wife.
