Story:
Prathap (Thiruveer), a man from a wealthy family, marries his love Bujjamma (Payal Radhakrishna) against his father’s (Ajay Ghosh) wishes. Their married life begins happily, but complications arise when Bujjamma leaves her in-laws, revealing that Prathap suffers from a serious health condition during sleep. What is this condition? Why was it hidden? Will they reunite? The film revolves around these questions.
Plus Points:
Thiruveer delivers a sincere performance, portraying innocence and emotional depth effectively. His scenes with Ajay Ghosh provide decent entertainment in the first half. Ajay Ghosh stands out with his comic timing and frustration-driven humor, making several moments engaging.
Minus Points:
The core conflict lacks convincing depth, especially the heroine’s decision to hide the issue for long. The reasoning feels weak and impacts the narrative flow. The second half becomes dull, with predictable drama and lack of emotional impact. The writing fails to justify key character actions, making the story less engaging.
Technical Aspects:
K.M. Radha Krishna’s music and background score are average. Vishweshwar’s cinematography is decent, capturing the rural backdrop well. Editing by Anwar Ali could have been sharper, as the film feels dragged, particularly in the second half. The production values are adequate.
Verdict:
Papam Prathap is an average village drama that works in parts, mainly due to a few entertaining moments in the first half. However, weak writing and an underwhelming second half dilute its overall impact. With stronger storytelling and emotional depth, the film could have been much better.
Rating: 2.5/5
