In a significant step toward digital efficiency, the Chakradharpur Divisional Railway Hospital in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district has achieved a milestone by issuing both Aadhaar numbers and birth certificates to newborns on the same day. According to an official statement from South Eastern Railway, four babies born on Saturday at the hospital were enrolled for Aadhaar and issued their birth certificates within hours — marking the first such instance across any railway hospital under the zone.
This initiative was made possible through seamless coordination between the Chakradharpur divisional railway administration, district officials, the postal department, and the Aadhaar enrolment team. The process ensures that each newborn receives valid identity documentation immediately after birth, reducing delays and paperwork for parents. Officials further stated that the departments involved will continue to visit the hospital regularly to facilitate on-the-spot Aadhaar enrolment and birth registration for newborns. The move aims to streamline the system, making it faster and more convenient for families, while supporting the government’s Digital India mission.
