Hydra Commissioner Ranganath briefed the Chief Minister on the lake restoration works being carried out under the supervision of HYDRA. During the review, the Chief Minister suggested organising a Kite Festival near restored lakes as part of the Sankranti celebrations. He emphasised that the event should be conducted on a grand scale in coordination with the Tourism Department to promote recreation and public participation.

The Chief Minister directed officials to invite IT professionals and employees from Hitech City to the Kite Festival at Thummidikunta. He also suggested organising special kite-flying events involving film personalities at Kukatpally Nallacheruvu and sportspersons at Burugudaffin Lake in Rajendranagar. The Chief Minister proposed that the Kite Festival be held over three days, from the 11th to the 13th.
