The death toll in the massive Hong Kong fire accident continues to rise. The blaze, which erupted across seven towers with 32 floors each, has claimed 93 lives so far, while over 280 people remain missing, according to local authorities.
Despite 48 hours of continuous rescue efforts involving 304 fire engines, the flames have not been fully brought under control. Several apartment units have turned into piles of debris, with officials describing the interiors as “heaps of bodies.”
As many as 76 people have been injured, and 15 among them are in critical condition. Authorities fear that many more residents could still be trapped inside, which may further increase the death count.
Rescue teams continue operations on a war footing as the situation remains extremely dangerous.
