Good news for ration card holders in Andhra Pradesh: The state government has announced a special scheme on the occasion of New Year and Sankranti. From January 1, 2026, wheat flour will be made available at ration shops to the public for just ₹20 per kilogram, in addition to regular essential commodities.
Currently, wheat flour in the open market ranges from ₹40 to ₹80 per kilogram. The Andhra Pradesh government aims to make it affordable for citizens by supplying it through ration shops. The scheme will first be implemented in district headquarters, towns, and cities, and later extended to rural areas.
The Civil Supplies Department has already started preparations for distribution. Supplies will begin reaching ration shops from December 26, and additional stocks will be distributed based on demand. Minister Nadendla Manohar confirmed that all arrangements for the scheme are ready.
