The government has taken a significant decision to reorganize the administration of Hyderabad. The existing Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has been trifurcated into three independent municipal corporations. The primary objective of this move is to enhance administrative efficiency and bring governance closer to the citizens. The city has been divided into the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporations. The IT corridor and western suburbs have been moved under the Cyberabad jurisdiction, while the eastern areas are now part of the Malkajgiri Corporation. The core city and Old City areas will remain under the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. As the term of the current elected body ended yesterday, the administration has transitioned to Special Officers starting today. The government has also appointed separate commissioners for the newly formed entities to ensure a smooth transition.
