Major irregularities have come to light regarding a Sarpanch election held five years ago in the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district. Court proceedings revealed that, due to errors during the vote counting process, the losing candidate was erroneously declared the winner. The true outcome of the election emerged after the Junior Civil Judge Court delivered a verdict declaring the election for the Gadilanka Panchayat in Mummidivaram Mandal null and void.
During a recount conducted in the court, it was discovered that invalid votes had been incorrectly tallied. Based on these adjustments, it was confirmed that Venkata Krishna Rao—a supporter of the TDP—had actually won the election with a lead of 14 votes. However, the fact that his rival candidate remained in office for five years based on the officially declared results has become a matter of controversy. Expressing his anguish that he was denied the office despite being elected by the people, Venkata Krishna Rao has demanded that action be taken against the officials responsible at the time.
