As the assembly election process in five states reaches its final stage, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah made notable remarks. He expressed confidence that parties of the India alliance would come to power in key states going to polls. Speaking to the media at Hazaratbal, he predicted that Mamata Banerjee would win in West Bengal, the Congress would emerge victorious in Kerala, and the DMK led by Chief Minister Stalin would secure a win in Tamil Nadu.
Responding to questions about the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, he stressed the urgent need for restoring peace. He warned that if the war does not end soon, it could lead to severe consequences for the world. He urged every country and leader to make sincere efforts to bring the conflict to an end at the earliest.
He also opined that former US President Donald Trump understands that Israel’s actions pushing the United States toward war are not appropriate and that necessary steps would be taken. He expressed hope that countries like China and Russia would also work towards ending the conflict soon. Speaking about the fight against drugs, he said that public support is crucial for the success of the campaign and that without people’s participation, the drug menace cannot be eliminated.
