Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has lauded the free annadanam (food distribution) initiative at Tirumala, which was launched on April 6, 1985, by the then Chief Minister Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao. What began as a service to feed just 2,000 devotees has now grown into a massive daily program serving around 2.80 lakh devotees. With the participation and support of devotees, the Sri Venkateswara Annaprasadam Trust’s corpus has crossed ₹2,500 crores.
Inspired by this annadanam scheme, the TTD has also established Pranadanam and Vidyadanam Trusts, providing healthcare and education services. The daily annadanam program is being implemented not only at Tirumala but also in 60 other temples under TTD jurisdiction and other prominent temples. CM Chandrababu extended his greetings and appreciation to all donors and supporters for contributing to this monumental service.
