The Indian Premier League match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings was abandoned due to continuous rain, with both teams sharing one point each. Kolkata, who were hoping to register their first win of the season at their home ground Eden Gardens, saw their plans disrupted by persistent showers. The rain continued for more than three hours, making it impossible to even conduct a minimum five-over match.
The outfield remained waterlogged in several areas, leaving no chance for play to resume. After inspecting the conditions, umpires informed captains Ajinkya Rahane and Shreyas Iyer about the decision to call off the match. Both captains agreed and shared a handshake.
While Punjab Kings missed the chance to secure a hat-trick of wins, Kolkata were left disappointed as they aimed to open their account this season.
