Amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia, multiple reports suggest that China is covertly assisting Iran. Chinese tech firms are reportedly using artificial intelligence (AI) and open-source data to continuously monitor U.S. military deployments, weapons stockpiles, fighter jets, aircraft carrier movements and military bases. While China has publicly called for an end to the conflict, allegations indicate that it is simultaneously supporting Iran by leveraging private companies to gather and share sensitive intelligence. By analyzing publicly available satellite imagery, flight trackers and maritime data, these firms are said to be tracking U.S. military movements and relaying the information to senior Iranian military officials.
The rapid advancement of geospatial analysis capabilities is raising global concerns. Experts note that open-source intelligence, once limited to a select group of specialists, is now becoming widely accessible due to AI technologies. This shift is seen as a potential threat not only to the United States but also to global security at large. In response, U.S. officials and experts are reportedly exploring strategies to counter these emerging technological risks.
