The Andhra Pradesh government is planning to phase out sleeper buses in the future, according to Transport Minister Mandipalli Ramprasad Reddy. The minister stated that the decision has been taken keeping passenger safety in mind, and further guidelines will be issued regarding the operation of private buses across the state.
He also made it clear that private buses traveling distances of 300 km or more must have two drivers to ensure safe and uninterrupted journeys. The move is aimed at reducing accidents and improving road safety standards in Andhra Pradesh.
