Telangana R&B Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced that all necessary measures have been taken to ensure people traveling from Hyderabad to their native villages for the Sankranti festival do not face any traffic problems. Arrangements are in place to prevent traffic jams and about 12 lakh vehicles are expected this year compared to 9 lakh last year. The minister has instructed that if heavy congestion occurs at toll gates, the gates should be opened to ease traffic.
For long-term improvement, the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for a Greenfield Highway from Future City to Bandar is ready and tenders are being invited. At the Pantangi toll gate, which often faces heavy traffic, the gate will be opened when needed. Safety measures have been coordinated with the DGP and ambulances will be stationed every 20 kilometers.
Authorities have also arranged cranes to move stalled vehicles and set up a toll-free number for assistance. Telangana officials are taking full responsibility to ensure smooth travel for people up to the state border during the festival.
