The latest National Family Health Survey has revealed concerning health trends in Telangana, showing that the state has the highest rate of caesarean deliveries in the country. The Caesarean section rate in Telangana has reached 62.2%, nearly three times higher than the national average of 22.9%. In government hospitals alone, the rate stands at 48.6%, while neighbouring Andhra Pradesh reports 52.2%.
The survey also highlights a rising prevalence of diabetes in the state, with Telangana exceeding the national average. According to the data, 28.2% of men and 24.2% of women in the state are affected by diabetes. Health experts view these figures as a warning sign, calling for stronger preventive healthcare measures and lifestyle changes.
