Star wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan, who impressed with his outstanding performances in IPL 2026, received a surprising setback in the inaugural Jharkhand T20 League mega auction. Despite enjoying a stellar IPL season with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ishan was outbid by Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper-batter Robin Minz, who emerged as the most expensive player in the auction. The event, organized by the Jharkhand State Cricket Association in Ranchi, witnessed intense bidding from six franchises, each operating with a budget of ₹50 lakh.
Robin Minz attracted fierce competition before being acquired by Koyalanchal Super Kings for ₹15.25 lakh, making him the costliest player in the tournament’s history. Meanwhile, Santhal Strikers secured Ishan Kishan for ₹14.70 lakh. The price difference of ₹55,000 between the two players sparked discussions among cricket fans. While Ishan scored 602 runs in IPL 2026 at an impressive strike rate of 182.42, Robin Minz's reputation as a powerful domestic hitter and concerns over Ishan’s potential national team commitments are believed to have influenced the auction dynamics. The inaugural Jharkhand T20 League is set to begin on June 10 and will feature 27 matches.
