Pawan Kalyan’s most highly anticipated film, OG, finally released last Thursday. Even though the movie didn’t completely match the hype, fans loved it, resulting in massive weekend collections. Since then, it has continued with steady collections, becoming Pawan’s first ₹100 crore share film, currently reaching around ₹170 crores. Buyers are now safely in the safe zone, and overall, OG has been a big success.
Now the question is: what’s next for Pawan? He has only one more film in hand — Ustad Bhagat Singh. Filming for Pawan’s portions is complete, though a few shoots are still pending, which will be wrapped up in a few weeks. Post-production isn’t complicated and can be completed quickly. The film could technically be ready for a December release, but since Pawan’s previous two films released within just a two-month gap, the team wants a proper gap this time.
Sankranti is already packed, leaving summer as the next viable option. In this season, Charan’s Peddi and Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara are lined up. Peddi is scheduled for March 26. Ideally, the release of Ustad will be planned to ensure a minimum three-week gap from both Charan’s and Chiru’s films.
Compared to previous projects, the Ustad team is not rushing the release, and there’s no extra pressure on the producers. Hence, the release won’t be finalized until there’s full clarity on Charan’s and Chiranjeevi’s schedules. With enough time available, the team plans to ensure perfect quality, and if required, even conduct reshoots, with the possibility of a late summer release.
