Could the upcoming Ramayana franchise expand into a third instalment? Producer Namit Malhotra’s recent comments at the film’s Los Angeles premiere have sparked speculation about the possibility. Speaking to an international media channel, he revealed that the team had initially planned to make the epic as a three-part film series but later decided to tell the story in two parts. He added that the makers are now waiting to see how audiences respond to the films and may consider extending the saga if the response is encouraging.
The possibility of a third part has raised curiosity about how the story could continue, with viewers wondering whether it might focus on Lava and Kusa or explore a different chapter of the epic. At an earlier pre-release event in Hyderabad, the makers had also confirmed that some characters from Ramayana would receive their own spin-offs. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash in the lead roles, the grand visual spectacle reportedly has a budget of around Rs. 2,000 crore for each part. Acclaimed composers Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman are working together on the music. Whether the franchise will expand further will depend on the audience’s response and the team’s future plans.
