These days, a growing number of people are suffering from brain strokes — especially during winter, when stroke cases reportedly increase by up to 10%.
Health experts warn that it’s crucial to take extra care during the cold season.
Doctors in Ahmedabad state that climate changes directly affect brain stroke risk. During winter, the incidence can rise by 5–10%, and nearly 35 people are admitted daily for stroke-related emergencies.
The main causes include unhealthy lifestyle habits, stress, high blood pressure, diabetes, and elevated cholesterol levels. Experts emphasize maintaining a balanced lifestyle and regular health monitoring to prevent complications.
In winter, blood vessels constrict, causing slower blood flow and an increased tendency for clot formation, which can lead to a brain stroke.
Additionally, reduced physical activity, dietary changes, alcohol consumption, and high stress levels further heighten the risk.
Alarmingly, strokes are now affecting younger adults as well. Nearly one in four stroke patients is under 50 years old.
Doctors attribute this trend to lack of physical activity and poor lifestyle habits.
