Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu conducted a high level review meeting amid the ongoing crisis in the Gulf region. Officials from the Civil Aviation Ministry and the aviation regulator briefed him about the steps taken over the last ten days to safely bring back Indians stranded in West Asian countries. Authorities explained that the evacuation is being carried out in coordination with Indian embassies and airline staff to ensure the safe return of passengers.
According to officials, around 850 passengers are being flown daily from Doha to Delhi, Mumbai, and Kochi. From Dammam in Saudi Arabia, about 166 passengers are being transported to Kochi every day. Arrangements have also been made to move Telugu people from Bahrain to Dammam and then to Kochi on Gulf Air flights. Authorities said nearly one lakh Indians have already been brought back through the combined efforts of domestic airlines and Gulf Air. The minister directed officials to ensure that the evacuation continues smoothly and that passengers do not face visa related issues.
