A large quantity of cannabis was seized in Hyderabad, with Excise Special Task Force (STF) officials arresting two people allegedly involved in transporting and selling the contraband. Acting on information about cannabis being sold at a hotel near the Kondapur Government Hospital, the STF conducted a search and detained Assam natives Dheeraj Das, 39, and Rabali Ali, 25. Officials seized 17.1 kg of cannabis worth around ₹9 lakh from their possession. The STF said the suspects were selling the cannabis in small packets at the hotel.
During the investigation, officials found that both suspects had previously worked as security guards in Hyderabad. According to the Excise investigation, they turned to cannabis sales after finding their salaries insufficient. Officials said the duo brought cannabis from Assam and sold it in Hyderabad. The STF later handed both suspects over to the Kondapur Excise Police for further investigation and legal action.
