A report released under the Sample Registration System by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs has revealed that Tamil Nadu has the highest proportion of divorced people in India. According to the report, 7.2 percent of the state's population is divorced and living separately from their spouses. Among them, 2.9 percent are men, while women account for a significantly higher 11.6 percent.
The report also highlighted that 51.9 percent of Tamil Nadu's population is married. In addition, 57.3 percent of men in the state are married, placing Tamil Nadu at the top in this category as well. The findings provide insights into the state's marital and demographic trends.
