September 17 Holds a Special Place in Telangana’s Long History of Struggles - CM Revanth Reddy

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy paid floral tributes at the Telangana Amaraveerula Stupam at Gun Park on the occasion of Telangana Praja Palana Dinotsavam. He later attended the state-level celebrations at the Public Gardens in Nampally as the chief guest and unfurled the national flag. Ministers including Ponnam Prabhakar, MLAs, MLCs, corporation chairpersons, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, DGP C.V. Anand and other senior officials attended the event. Revanth Reddy said September 17 holds a special place in Telangana’s history and extended Praja Palana Dinotsavam greetings to the people of the state while remembering those who fought and sacrificed for freedom, self-respect and rights.

The Chief Minister said Telangana has a long history of resistance, from the struggles associated with Sammakka-Saralamma to the Telangana armed peasant struggle and the separate statehood movement. He recalled that Hyderabad State became part of India on September 17, 1948, marking a transition from princely rule towards democratic governance. He said people-centric governance means respecting citizens’ voices, addressing their concerns, protecting their rights and ensuring that government resources reach all sections of society. Revanth Reddy called for building a modern Telangana while drawing inspiration from its history and struggles, with the participation of the state’s four crore people.
