The delay in Telangana's fee reimbursement and scholarship payments has triggered a fresh political debate. Critics have alleged that the Congress government has failed to prioritize education and public welfare, claiming that nearly ₹11,300 crore in fee reimbursement and scholarship dues remain pending. They argue that the delay has put the higher education of lakhs of students from economically weaker sections at risk.
According to the criticism, the prolonged delay in releasing funds has severely affected private colleges, making it difficult for them to pay staff salaries and manage operations. It is also alleged that many students are unable to obtain their original certificates due to pending fee payments, impacting higher education opportunities, job applications, and placements. The government has also faced criticism over its approach to resolving the issue and the implementation of related policies.
Opposition voices have demanded that the Telangana government immediately clear all pending fee reimbursement dues, withdraw controversial orders, and ensure that students receive their certificates without delay. They argue that fee reimbursement is not merely a welfare scheme but a government responsibility aimed at providing equal access to higher education for underprivileged students.
