The Central Government on Monday introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026 in the Lok Sabha to strengthen measures against question paper leaks and unfair practices in public examinations. Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Jitendra Singh tabled the Bill amid noisy scenes, as Opposition members demanded an explanation over the alleged police action against students during the July 20 protest held under the 'Sansad Chalo' campaign.
The protests continued in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, with Opposition MPs alleging that excessive force, including pellet guns, had been used against students. They insisted on an immediate discussion before legislative business could proceed. As the uproar intensified, both Houses of Parliament were adjourned until 2 PM, delaying the scheduled proceedings.
