Former minister and MLA T. Harish Rao has written an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, expressing serious concern over alleged negligence towards Telangana’s water rights under the Congress government. He warned that the state’s water interests are under threat due to poor management.
In his letter, dated 07-04-2026, Harish Rao recalled that the BRS party had earlier warned about the maintenance of lift irrigation pump sets. He stated that the warnings were ignored, leading to damage to pumps and failures in the maintenance of key projects such as Kaleshwaram and Devadula.
He further highlighted that Telangana has fallen to a historic low in Krishna river water usage, with Andhra Pradesh utilizing 74 percent while Telangana is limited to 25 percent. He also criticized the proposed solar based electricity policy, stating it could endanger irrigation systems. He demanded withdrawal of the farmer DISCOM proposal, provision of 24-hour quality electricity for lift irrigation projects, and adequate funding for Kaleshwaram and Devadula projects.
