Devpalik Gupta, the digital communications manager of Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party, was found dead near railway tracks in Jharkhand on Tuesday, October 27. He had gone missing a day earlier while travelling by train from Ranchi to Patna with colleagues. According to his colleague Gautam Kumar, Gupta boarded the Janshatabdi Express at Ranchi at around 2:25 pm on Monday. About 10 minutes after the train departed, he said he was going to the pantry car to get food but did not return. His colleagues searched the pantry car and other coaches but could not locate him. His phone was reportedly switched off.
Gupta's body was found beside railway tracks near Jarwadih village, close to Muri in Ranchi district. A report by The Observer Post, citing the local police station officer, said preliminary findings suggested that he may have died after accidentally falling from the moving train. However, the exact cause of death has not yet been established, and the postmortem report is awaited. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation, and further details are expected after the completion of the inquiry.
