BRS working president KTR has accused the Congress government of contributing to the drought-like conditions in Telangana through alleged failures in irrigation water management. He claimed that farmers were struggling as crops dried up amid shortages of irrigation water, electricity and urea, and criticised the government for not operating the Kaleshwaram pumps. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, during the induction of several Congress and BJP leaders from the Nirmal constituency into the BRS, KTR alleged that available Godavari and Krishna river water was not being utilised effectively. He also recalled the previous BRS government's initiatives, including Rythu Bandhu, free electricity and irrigation facilities for farmers.
KTR further accused the Congress government of failing to fulfil its election promises and criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy over the handling of farmers' issues. Highlighting development initiatives undertaken by the previous BRS government in the Nirmal region, he urged party leaders and workers to strengthen the organisation. KTR said Telangana could overcome its current challenges only if KCR returned as chief minister. He also announced a major public meeting in Nirmal on November 11. These statements represent KTR's political allegations; the claims concerning drought conditions and water management would need to be assessed separately against official information.
