The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted a special food safety inspection drive on November 4 and 5 ahead of the Diwali festival. As part of the campaign, officials took action against establishments found violating food safety regulations. The department suspended 105 licences and directed seven establishments to stop their operations.
During the inspections, officials seized approximately 39,485 kg of food products valued at ₹1.35 crore. The drive was aimed at preventing the sale of unsafe and substandard food items during the festive season. FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe stated that public health and food safety would not be compromised and that strict action would continue against violations.
