The High Court on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the increasing number of petitions being filed due to delays in routine revenue administration. It noted that issues such as disposal of offline applications, correction of revenue records, missing survey numbers, and mutation cases are repeatedly reaching the court. The bench observed that these matters could be resolved at the departmental level if officials discharge their duties within the stipulated time frame, thereby preventing unnecessary litigation.
During the hearing of a petition filed by Hanmandlu from Bodhan mandal in Nizamabad district, Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar directed the Revenue Department to formulate a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address such issues and submit a report within four weeks. The petitioner alleged that despite applying for mutation in October, no action had been taken for eight months. The court adjourned the matter to August 8 and instructed the registry to send a copy of the order to the Revenue Department’s Chief Secretary by Wednesday.
