Government Mulls Assigned Land Regularisation

Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the state government is considering the regularisation of assigned lands. Speaking to the media, he said the issue has already been discussed informally in the Cabinet twice and, being a policy matter, a final decision will be taken by the Cabinet under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy after further discussions.

The minister stated that many beneficiaries had sold their assigned lands, while others had built houses on them. He said the government may impose a fee or introduce land limit conditions for those who purchased large extents of assigned land expecting future regularisation. He also clarified that the Bhu Bharati Committee would function like a fast track court, re-surveys are being conducted in nearly 300 villages, and only land under actual possession will be considered during verification. He added that there is good coordination between the government and the party.
