The INDIA alliance is set to organise a massive protest rally in New Delhi today under the slogan “Vote Bachao, Desh Bachao” as part of its ‘Chalo Delhi’ campaign. Extensive arrangements are being made at Ramlila Maidan for the rally, with alliance leaders estimating that around 10 lakh people may attend. The protest aims to highlight concerns over the protection of voting rights, transparency in the electoral process and the safeguarding of democratic values.
The alliance has placed three key demands before the Election Commission: the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, the repeal of the 2023 Election Commission Act and the immediate suspension of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. The leaders are also demanding the restoration of names removed from voter lists and calling for elections to be conducted using ballot papers. The rally is expected to draw attention to the alliance’s demands for electoral reforms and the protection of voting rights.
